ترجمه مطبوعاتی

زمان نقل مکان یا اثاث کشی، یکی از سخت ترین کارها، کم کردن و پاکسازی انبوه کاغذها و نوشته ها و آرشیو بریده روزنامه یا مطالب انباشته شده در کیف و پوشه و لابلای کتابها است. در میان انبوه کاغذها و پاکتهای جورواجور ، واژه های انگلیسی نوشته شده روی و کارتهای مقوایی یا گوشه یک بریده روزنامه و معانی آنها از جمله مواردی است که نه می توان آنها را دور ریخت و نه می توان اطمینان داشت در گیرودار جمع و جور کردن اسباب، معانی و کاربردشان در ذهن بماند. خلاصه یکی از دلایل قدیمی و اصلی ایجاد این وبلاگ ، همین راحتی دسترسی به کلماتی است که یکبار و یا در زمانی برایم جالب بوده و قصد یادگیری آن را داشته ام. پس چند دقیقه وقتی یافتم تا این کلمات را برای مرور بعدی به اینجا انتقال دهم و  با خیال آسوده آنها را دور بریزم. 

stave off: to keep something away or keep something from happening. دفع کردن : "Diplomatic efforts by Iran designed to stave off a U.S. - supported push for a another set of Security Council sanctions over its nuclear program."

reinstate: to give someone back their previous job or position, or to cause sth to exist again. دوباره برقرار کردن , دوباره به مقام اولیه خود رساندن: "Iraq plans to reinstate 20000 ex-officers." (2010)  "The Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty in 1976."

plagiarize: \ˈplā-jə-ˌrīz \ سرقت ادبی آثار دیگران  to steal (the ideas or words of another) as one's own : use (another's production) without crediting the source. "The thesis of Austria's European Commissioner is to be examinned once more after an expert claimed that substantial parts were plagiarized."

On the cards : Likely to happen "If children play with matches it is on the cards that sth going to happen." ,"Gloomy days on the cards for the government."

Concoct: درست کردن، سرهم کردن
1- to make by combining different ingredients: She had concocted a red sauce.
2- An excuse, explanation, or account you invent it: He accused the interior Minister of concocting false evidence against police officers.

relent:رحم و شفقت نشان دادن to act in a less severe way towards someone and allow sth that you had refused to allow before. ‎"I will not relent to penalise those responsible for the violences." Ant:relentless بی رحم
